    Ricoh mp c6000 developer change

I am about to change the color developer on a Ricoh mp c6000, I have never changed developer on this box and I have the service manual. I know there has been many issues with this box in general and was wondering if, I follow the instructions in the service manual or is there a better way? Normally, I would follow the service manual, however, I know there have been several issues, tweaks, etc, so, as silly as it may sound, I figured I would ask before I did what the book told me, thank you.

    HI Walter man...
Just follow the family to the letter and you should be OK...
    But here's a bullet point...
. Turn mc off and empty all Dev, tap Dev unit to release as much as possible.
. Refit Dev unit, and face plate.
    . Leave hopper off.
. Turn transfer lever to down position.
    . Cheat door switch.
. Fit Dev bottle to front of Dev unit, pull tape.
. Turn on machine (door shut, with cheats).
    . Wait until ready beep.
    . Run Dev fill.
    . Check result when completed.
    . Turn off mc.
    . Fit hopper.
. Turn on my with door open, important it is open to stop process control.
    . Close door when displayed.
    . Run Dev set up.
    .check results.
    . Run process control.
    . Check results.
    . Run line add.
    . Check results.
    . Run light sensor add.
    . Check results.
. Run process control and calibrate.
    . Test

    Hope it helps....
You can have Dev fill problems, at times you can run the Dev unit in op mode fill the Dev unit and set up....

Thank you, both, for the detailed info. It really seems like a lot of work just to change developer, if you ask me. I will follow up after completion and let you know how it turned out.

take your time for the emptying process to avoid that too much dev remains in the box (it might lead to a non-successfull fill procedure) - the unit is a PITA construction indeed

Yes. I concur. Once you think the unit is empty, stand it on end with the fill port down and lightly tap with your screwdriver handle up and down the base of Dv unit and all around where the sensor mounts. If the sensor still sees Developer in the unit, the fill procedure fails.

Thank you, for the advise and knowledge, I performed the developer change with no hang ups or errors, the mfp went through the process and said complete, the color looks great. I spent my most time making sure the developing units were clean and devoid of old developer. Thank you.

Welcome to the world of the Venus developer change procedure. It's a total, complete and utter bastard. It'd be worth all the hassle if they weren't such filthy pigs in the first place.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

LMAO, TonerMukeh, thank you. I agree on the dev. change process, I took my time and actually started enjoying every time on of the users rounded the corner and bitched about it being down...
