Need help with a Ricoh MP2550sp that the network just stopped working today on it. You can't access it's IP or print to it any more. The orange light is solid on the network jack but the green light never comes on. We disconnected the network cable from the copier plugged it into a laptop and it worked fine. So the cable and connection are working. We have powered off and restarted the copier and router it was connected to and sill nothing. There aren't any error codes coming up. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to connect laptop directly to the copier and use WIM. If that fails try different controller board. -

If the green light doesn't come on when the machine is connected to the user's network, it could be they have a bad network cable, or the user's network connection that the cable plugs into is bad. The green light should illuminate otherwise. Try using a new network cable and plug it into a proven working socket in the user's network and see what happens.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP2550sp no network activity
First check SP 5985-001. If it is set to "0", the network interface is disabled. Change it to "1". If that is not the problem, check the pins in the network connector. If one or more pins are bent, see if you can straighten them with a small spring hook. Otherwise replace the controller board.Comment

Check the pins in the network connector socket, if somebody moved the machine with the network cable attached then the pins may be bent.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP2550sp no network activity
With most machines I have worked on, the orange light shows connection of at least one of the pairs, not certain whether receive or send. The green light shows network activity on the receive pair.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP2550sp no network activity
Just today I just visited a clients office that had relocated their machine (an older MP2510) and needed me to reconfigure it, and I could not get it to connect. I tried everything, and then finally removed the Controller and had a good look inside the NIC port, and sure enough one of the pins was bent over another one. I performed a little day surgery with my brand new multi-tip micro screwdriver (Nice timing on that too), and managed to get it back in place.
I'm sure they must have pushed it across the room without disconnecting the cable or something, but no one wanted to own up to doing anything wrong.Last edited by sandmanmac; 03-27-2014, 06:06 AM.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP2550sp no network activity
You stated you connected the cable to a laptop and it worked ok. By the wording, I'm assuming you connected the laptop to their network and you were able to access their network. Did you try connecting the laptop directly to the copier? That should be the first step.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP2550sp no network activity bumped having same on MPC3300
That is, if the machine you are working on has exactly the same problem as listed in the first post in this thread anyway.
We can't see that machine and the environment it is in, so it is up to you to tell us that if you would like helpful suggestions.Comment

As the first post in this thread said that was the case, I guess we are supposed to assume so.
Assuming can be a bad course of action though.Comment

When you have a problem, going searching through old post to find a solution is fine, but if you don't find the answer, start a new post. There are a number of top tech on this site who will totally ignore add ons to posts that have been dormant for more than a certain number of months. In fact, it Iowatech and anothertech had not posted to it I would have ignored it.Comment
