MP301 - new PCU, but "Replace PCU" alert remains in web console

Fitted new PCU at 46k after toner feed gears shagged out, but can't find a reset for the PCU count in SP menu. Is there a manual reset procedure?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.
So you didn't run developer Initialization then? (SP2-801-1)

No. The PCU instructions suggests the machine takes about 1min to initialize and the "Replace PCU" message on the operator panel should be cleared automatically... (Printer is working fine).

Does the developer initialization process reset the PCU alert or simply just charge the dev?

I must admit, I've not worked on this unit yet.
All the predecessors (MP161,171 and 201), you would power off the machine, replace the PCU and it would automatically calibrate and reset dev counter at power 'on', as your instructions have sort of indicated, BUT, the service manual for this model, simply states to replace it, and run the initialization, so I have to assume that the PCU alert will be reset at that time.

I know that there some models that have a SP setting for whether the PCU will be replaced by the user or by a technician. It will only reset the counter automatically if it is set for user replacement and the machine is displaying "Replace PCU". Every one I have worked on one it was set for tech and I have had to run SP 2801.

on this model, you don't run the 2801, it is automatic upon installing the pcu. i think it's SP7804.

The Service Manual says differently. MP301 PCU.pdf
SP7804 Resets PF counts etc., but nothing that actually actuates a PM message

Performed SP2801-1, exited and restarted the printer, but 'Replace PCU' still appears in web console. Any more ideas?

What about SP7804-002? It's supposed to clear the 45k PM count...

SP7804-002 did the trick. Thanks for your help guys.

The props should go to jonhiker....and my apologies too, because he was the one that first mentioned SP7804
Why didn't they just leave it as an automatic reset and calibration? Now there are 2 Sp's to run, that were previously performed automatically. Foolishness.

That's Ricoh for you. MP 4000 and 5000 required resetting two SPs when you replaced the cleaning web. The original service manual only gave you one. Bulletin 036 gave you both. If you did not reset both at the same time and then reboot, the service web message would not go away.

The problem is they're trying harder and harder to do two things:

                            1. Over-engineer perfectly good machines

                            2. Double dip by offering the PCU as a consumable supply item while still needing a service call to replace it properly.

All of the manufacturers are getting good at this kind of thing. At this rate, the next version will need a rebuildable PCU like the DLT models of the same speed.

Re: MP301 - new PCU, but "Replace PCU" alert remains in web console

                              Here's what I found...

                              SP7804 works on the 301's

for the 161/171/201's use SP5912 and set the alarm interval to 0 (disabled)

for the 1515, also use SP5912 but set to 1 (do not display)

For the last two, this should stop the messages from ever showing again (if that's what you really want).

                              from 161/171 service manual:
                              5912* PCU Alarm Counter [0 to 255 / 45 / 1/step]
                              Printout
                              5912 1
Specifies the PCU alarm level. The PCU alarm is issued when the following
                              condition is met:
                              PAc x 1000 >= PCUc
where PAc is the value specified in this SP and PCUc is the PCU counter.
When you specify 0 (zero), the PCU alarm is deactivated.
