    Ricoh C3003 - Fax Forward

I have a C3003 set up to FAX FORWARD to a FOLDER, with Printing set to ON, so essentially, FWD and PRINT. It works.

However, in the event of network failure, or someone deleting the folder, etc, the customer would like the FAX to print anyway.

In testing this, by unplugging the network cable, upon failure, it appears the FAX goes into "FAX RECEIVED" mode and does not print.

Is there any way to get the fax to print without turning off FORWARDING and rebooting the copier.

    Thanks!

If you have the machine set up properly, anytime memory transfer fails, it should print the file. The only things that need to be changed when setting up fax fowarding are to turn on forwarding, select where to forward it, set whether PDF or TIFF, and set "Print Memory Transfer File". If I remember correctly they are all under Reception File Settings. If you have changed anything anywhere else, change it back. If Print Memory Transfer File is on, it will both forward and print each FAX. If it is off, it will only print if the file fails to be forwarded.

Thanks I'll check that out. - I think the customer has made some setting changes. I will try to check a fresh machine for default reference. There new machines have too many settings in the web interface that often times invite the customer to go on a clicking spree.

Exactly what does this setting change and what is the end result?

          Thanks for the reply!

I've only had a couple of experiences on machines where something happened on the network to keep faxes from being forwarded, but what seemed to happen was that although they didn't print right away, they eventually did.
It seems that the machine may hold them in memory for a time and try a few times to forward the file, before eventually giving up and printing it - sort of like redialing when the receiver's line is busy.

But I'm afraid I don't have any specifics to offer, and I'm unsure if there's any setting to reduce the wait time or otherwise, but it's also only about 4 screen touches to disable it on the rare occasion that it may happen.

Thanks for the reply. I think in this case, its more of a what if situation. They had someone delete the fax folder by accident, and they are looking to shore that up...

I think you are right, the machine may eventually give it up. As far as things going wrong with FAX FWD to a Folder, I get that call constantly. Since it's an extension of scan to folder, password changes, microsoft security, and DNS issues, router swaps, and carelessness. It generally does not happen on servers with attentive IT guys, but we don't always get that.
