Good day fellow engineers. I'm wondering if anybody could lend a hand with an issue I'm having with a printer, the machine was serviced by another company's junior engineer and had very poor CQ (looked dev related) then on a run it error coded. They have asked us to take a look at it and have replaced the TD sensor, the dev, and I have just installed the developer again after there engineer suspected toner had dropped in to the dev before TD setup. I have set it up correctly blocking toner entry and get the error code on TD initialization. The machine is almost new but has been hammered by the customer doing 100k in a month since install a Month and half ago. the machine has got 4 errors listed them being SC991 (value 1) SC372 (value 6) SC503 (value 1) and SC360 (value 17) on the SMC report. Really confused now as its had 2 bags of dev and the td sensor replaced before we v t involved and a bag of dev and the filters replaced today.

Re: Ricoh SP8300 error SC372
If they have been doing 100K for a month and a half, the machine is due for a 160K maintenance service. The SC 991 is another indication that a PM is past due. Check the development roller. If it is coated, you will need to clean or replace it before you replace the developer. Use a piece of paper to clean the roller. If the filming comes back quickly after cleaning, it will need to be replace. You will also need to clean all toner residue from the PCU. If they are using after market toner/developer, this could be the cause. The SC 360 and 372 are basically the same, 360 occurs during normal and 372 during TD initialization. You may also have a bad TD sensor, the one you put in might have been bad. As for the SC503, that is a problem with paper tray three, possibly a piece of paper in back of the tray preventing it from lifting properly. -
Re: Ricoh SP8300 error SC372
After speaking to the engineer who attended the original call the PM has been completed. The error codes occurred a day after with poor copy quality. After attending with him I cleaned the mag roller and cleaned it all out, we ordered the replacement TD sensor and another bag of developer which was fit by the dealers engineer and the same fault occurred and they ordered another bag of developer for me to collect and fit. I'm now wondering if the Development unit had been taken apart Incorrectly and put back together with something shorting/missing as several screws have been misplaced on a number of machines we look after for this dealer. I have requested a new development unit and bag of developer be ordered by the dealer and we can try again with a complete unit that I know is complete. The mag roller was black when I arrived the first time so I showed the engineer from the dealer how to correctly clean it. It is possible that it's a faulty TD sensor that's been fit or that it's been handled badly and/or damaged that's the cause but due to not knowing what's been taken apart etc I'm not taking any chances. I have been fixing copiers for long enough to know when to bite the bullet and after 3 hours checking everything I could on the development unit and the connection and harness etc I gave up. It was working before the service apparently so I suspect it's been caused during the service. Hopefully the new developer unit will cure it, if not I have no idea. I suspect it is a contact or static/grounding plate shorting something out due to he SC360 errors being voltage to high or low. I just wondered if anybody else had suffered similar issues as I couldn't see anything specific anywhere.Comment

The charge roller has brass bushings contacting it on either end when it is installed in the PCU - check to see if these are still there, and try cleaning them.Comment
