[Error Code] MX2640 & Scan to Email

I have one of these machines which I am having a problem with getting it to scan to email.

The email server details and authentication are correct and if I run the Test, it completes and confirms all is correct. If i send a Status Page from the machine, I receive it ok, but when I scan something, it gets to the Sending part and then comes up with a message that the machine lost connection with the server and was unable to send image.

    Up to date firmware.
    SSL On
    Tme out is 30 seconds
Port 587 (tried 465) same error
SSL security level was low, i changed to medium, but made no difference.

    Stumped??

Check date and time, Sharps dont like more than an hour time difference. What is the error code in the job log? It will indicate exactly what is wrong.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

If the SMTP test is successful, I recommend going to the ALERTS, send a test e-mail, and check on the OUTGOING by physically logging into the google account to see if it's actually sent.

If it isn't, then I have seen that exact issue when MFP is in static, and Gateway is wrong.
I've also seen it when GATEWAY is correct, but changing it to DHCP, works. So, IP allocation solved that issue.
I've seen this also when DNS settings are incorrect.

Lastly, on some AT&T/ UVERSE routers I have seen outgoing SMTP e-mail blocked. On some, messing with Firewall settings worked, on most, telling them to buy a Netgear Nighthawk Router and using that instead solved all my issues.

        Good luck.

Are you scanning using Gmail? If so, you will need to turn on two-factor authentication, and generate an app password for the copier.

Use port 587 and it will work, make sure the firmware is latest and greatest.

Otherwise, the email server may be seeing the missing From field (which this series machines fail to populate), and block concurrent connections; thinking it is spam.
We see this especially on Office365 inboxes, where the emails get sent to junk almost always (if using an outgoing Office365 account).

For problem scan to email with error "communication with selected server is lost when sending image"

under security page of the machine, port control, disable mDNS

make sure ur mfp already updated to latest firmware with tls1.2 supported

The connection test is nothing more than a ping.

              Meaning copier can find smtp.gmail.com

A successful test does not mean it can authenticate against server and/or send.
