    Sharp MX-4070N E7-93 Error

    Good morning Gents,

I want to preface this by saying that I'm not an authorized Sharp Service Technician:

With that out of the way. I have 2 machines that are popping up E7-93 error codes and though I'm leaning towards the MFPC PWB I wanted to run through what I've done so far.

The first machine has been problematic for a while (i.e. would not boot, "please wait" when going to settings, etc.), but after coming across the ability to image mSata boards, I have been able to get the machine to come to ready and function normally with the exception of an occasional E7-93 error. I have replaced the mSata board, replaced the HDD, and flashed the latest firmware available (Phoenix_0800Z100_22093000). The machine will still throw an E7-93 error (and a subsequent jam because the copier stops mid-operation) but it will come back to "Ready" with a full power cycle. I can print ALL internal test prints from 22-6, 23-2, and 64-5. The machine does NOT seem to record the error in 23-2 however.

The second machine, while not as problematic, is having the EXACT same issue.

Any thoughts (helpful please), would be much appreciated before I try to locate the MFPC PWB. Just to re-iterate these are MX-4070N machines. TIA!

One of the causes of that error code points to the SCN-MFP PWB. I would go that route before replacing the MFPC PWB. Also make sure connections are good between the SCN-MFP PWB and the HDD

E7-93 can be caused a number of things actually.
You'll often find jam code PRI_Jam recorded at the same time, often with the paper stalled at the Registration rollers.

Hello, you write to us that you have replaced the HDD.

Is this an ordered HDD from Sharp? Was it a new HDD?
If it's an old HDD, did you format it from the MFP?

When I have an E7-93 code on a CR4, and I order a new HDD, I have no worries, at worst, I just have the address book left to hand over.

I've had about 5 of these and replacing the HDD took care of problems.

            • Firmware. Ensure Latest Firmware is installed. DONEDONE
            • Run HDD Read/Write tests in Sim 62. DONE
            • Replace the network cable.
            • If MFD has a fax kit, run 66-10 to clear and refresh the memory (no user data will be lost). NO FAX
            • If problems continue, replace the MFP board, then HDD. Possibly can be an mSata problem, but almost always in my experience E7-93 is caused by something here above, or the MFP Board after everything else is exhausted.
This is what I was curious about (print drivers/bad doc issue). It was strange to me that this happened on 3 different machines at the same time but I could not find any documentation to support my theory. The HDD/mSata was part of the operational problem but I do not believe it is the root cause of the continued E7-93 errors. I am going to reach out to the client's IT and work on updating the print drivers across the board. It's a bit difficult to match up documents to errors though because the machine is not logging all of the E7-93 errors in real time like it is supposed to. I walked up to a one of the machines that was in the error state, restarted it, and printed the 23-2 report and there was no error recorded (the last recorded error was more than a week and half old). Thanks again, this is immensely helpful!

I have replaced HDD and mSata boards in both machines, this cleared up a few issues but not the E7-93 errors that persist.

We're not an authorized Sharp dealer, so we've had to order HDD and mSata boards from other sources. They're new 500gb HDD and mSata SSD with the same specs as the original.

I have had that error randomly show up on this series and found staples or paper clips laying on the scan board on the rear of the adf.
Take that rear cover off and check for anything laying on that scn board. Remove the debris with the machine turned off, then do a CN
update on the firmware, this fixes alot of strange errors for me.
                  Good luck.

might be voodoo but I prefer to run f/w update via the CN mode for trouble codes.

                      Dan,
I DID find a couple of paperclips on one of the ADF scan pwbs LOL. Though there were no paperclips, staples, etc on either of the other 2 ADF scan pwbs. I have done CN firmware updates on all 3 machines as well.

The Service Manual points to the following:

                        SCN-MFP Control PWB

Which in the exploded diagram is:

                        MFPC SCNCNT

Which in the Parts Guide is:

The MFPC Unit, unless I am mistaken? I am more than ok being wrong, the Sharp manuals seem to be a bit convoluted in nomenclature...
