My company has started to use generic toners on our fleet of MX-4070 and MX-6070 MFP's. The toners work fine on the 4070's but on the 6070 when I put in a generic toner the machine will kick out all 4 toners. This is using the Pollek and Pollek toners and the 6070 only. The firmware is up to date on all the machines, Has anyone else used generic toners and run into this problem? Thank you!

Re: MX-6070 and generic toner
My company was using generic toner for a while. I didnt notice any difference from 4070 compared to 6070 like you are having. Issues we had were the machines ran filthy with loose toner all over the inside of the machine. Also it threw off the developer calibrations as far as when the machine said to replace the toner, the cust would replace it and the machine would go into developer- toner calibration codes. All we would have to do is to manually add some toner into the developer unit and then it would start working again. But that was happening to us all over the place. It didnt take long for the company to realize it was costing them way more than the toner cost savings. -
Re: MX-6070 and generic toner
We don't use generic toner unless the machine is so old that we can't reliably source OEM toner, and even then, we really only use it on B/W models. When machines get to the age where we can no longer get OEM color toner, we start talking to the customer about replacing the machine. But hopefully well before we absolutely can't get toner anymoreComment

We've been using a mix of OEM and Compatible toners. As of now, we have been using Katun Toners. From my personal experience they have worked great, except for the MX-560NT, which caused some DV Loss on the 565's, but after a formula change, it's been working great.
I do have an issue with some toners sounding "Crunchy", meaning the toner has hardened a bit, this can cause toners not fall down the toner pipe to the imaging units. I always tell my clients during training, "More important than printing, than copying, faxing and scanning, see this toner? Please for the love of God shake the toner." 😅
ACTUALLY, I do remember something similar in the old ARM455 mfps. When the toner was clogged, or the waste box was clogged, the new toner would trigger empty after 5 minutes. We had to keep CRUM chips in stock.Comment

Re: MX-6070 and generic toner
Too many dv issues and toner dusting to deal with compatible color toners. Your boss should cut corners elsewhere in the company other than that. BW machines maybe, less risky. Color no way.Best rule for troubleshooting.
