Paperjam but no paper

Hello,

I went to a customer site that has a MX-3071 with the message on screen that states that there is a paperjam. I checked everywhere, but couldn't find any piece. I checked the sensors and they all work. When i checked 22-3 the error code P_ON was there. I changed the fuser which i thought maybe that there was the problem, but no. I'm not sure where to look next. Does anyone have any ideas?

Can you explain what you mean when you say that all sensors are working? Do you mean mechanically and electronically?

I checked through simulation codes 30-1 / 30-2 / 4-1 / 2-2 the sensors if they react or not.

That's the correct way. Just to be clear, you manually activated every sensor and it changed states on the LCD screen? If so, I'd say that you have some type of board problem At least that the only thing that I can think of.

This may be worth a shot. Disconnect every option -doc. feeder, finisher, ect- and see if the paper jam goes away.

P codes generally relate to paper exit issues, you have swapped the fuser which has the POD 1 sensor and flag on it, my next suggestion would be to remove the exit assembly and see if any of those sensors are out of place. also, I am not familiar with you machine but I have seen instances where the right tray (fax tray) is activated and there is no right tray and every time you receive a fax it jams at POD 3. Also, check your PPD 2 sensor and make sure there is no paper dust blocking it.

Had one the other day on a MX-4071 that showed PRI_JAM and would never print a copy. They had a fax attached and I cleared 66-10 and it still failed. Cleared 67-17and that took care of the problem. Might try them can't hurt. Good luck

Make copies with the misfeed sensors disabled. SIM 7-1. See if will pass paper.

@mloudy. What does sim 7-1 exactly do. The manual says that 7-1 is "Used to set the operating conditions of aging"

I had a problem exactly like that. Same code. In my case is was a bad surge box. Machine would periodically reboot then give that code. I changed the box and problem went away. Hope this helps.

I finally found it. There was een piece of paper stuck in the exit unit. Because they have a internal finisher it was hard to see. Thank you all for thinking along.

I think if you use Misfeed Disable-JAM detection ingnoring setting in 7-1 it will pass paper and ignore the state of misfeed sensors. In this case it would have either pushed that little pice of paper through or stopped because the piece of paper blocked the path. Either way you may have been able to find it quicker.

I manualy set the paper so it said misfeed, then tried SIM7-1 disable missfeed, machine rebooted and nothing happened, jam was still there.
