    MX-4070 C4-20

Have a machine that has a C4-20 and the black usually looks washed out. Intermittently, I have seen the magenta and cyan washed out, as well.

The harnesses look fine. I replaced the PCU PWB, TC PWB, MC PWB and PTC unit. I swapped out the primary transfer unit, replace the B1, TL, U2 and rebuild black process unit. Same issue. I have only replaced 1 of the 2 TURC clutches, because I broke the 2nd clutch.

Sharp tech he does not believe it is the clutches because it is more for color, which I am not so sure of.

    Any help would be appreciated.

      I had this error yesterday.
Machine would print 1 page then go into error code.
I swapped out main belt unit, pre charge, second transfer unit and also stripped, checked and cleaned all drum units.
This didn't help so i stripped and cleaned both clutch units which were full of rust but this didn't help either.
I fitted two new clutches and this fixed the issue.
So I would definitely change both clutches (PCLC-0399FCZZ)

As stated above, the PTC housing is cracked and its arcing out.

Replace the PTC housing and you should be good to go

The PTC holder was the issue. I have never had this issue before, but was aware of it. Looking at the holder, I did not see anything originally. After replacing the holder and error going away. I re-examined and I think I see the hair-line crack. Thank you for your help.

MX-3570V started with a C4-00, replaced pre transfer assembly and started with intermittent C4-20. Oddly, black copies would feed up to the primary belt and code almost every page, but color rarely coded but seemed to me more of a density/unstable transfer issue. After reading this post, I swapped out the PTC holder and it seemed to work for a while, but since i could not see any crack or defect in the unit, i wanted to me sure. We put the old one back in and it codded again so i put the other holder back in and it proceeded to code and malfunction with it replaced. I decided to investigate the PTC unit closer by cheating the door, removing the wtc and executing the sim to turn on the TC output, got my face down eye level with it and i could see and hear the ptc corona arc, but i needed a better angle to try to ID the exact point that was arching. as i moved it quit arcing and has worked in the shop now for 3 days. I am beginning to think there is more to this issue that JUST a defective or cracked PTC holder, but not sure what.
