New Sharp End of lease feature

In a recent Press Release Sharp stated, for additional security, the company is introducing an “End of Lease” option that deletes all data on a leased machine before it is returned. Data that resides on copiers that have been re-sold after lease has been identified as a major privacy and security threat.

Does this mean that a Service tech has to enter in a date upon set up of the copier and when that date occurs the copier auto formats the HDD?

I know that on the new mx26-3110, you have a option in admin mode when pressed it will erase everything and take the machine back to default.

If i can remember right, but i might be wrong since i had the training a few months ago, the button is called "end of lease"

This can be done by any user with administrator rights. It is not done through simulation. Under machine settings, security settings is where the option is. You can only do this from the machine's panel, not from the web page.

Correct it is done through the administarator mode. Also Standard is a basic data security mode which will encrypt and overwrite the info on the HDD.That's enable within the security settings. Note this though, once it's enable it cannot be disabled. As our instructor in Mahwah stated, they like to call it data security light. It encrypts and overwrites the info just doen't have all the features of the true data security kit!
