    Windows 7 and Sharpdesk 3.3 - msxml3.dll error

Installing Sharpdesk and when you try to enter Network scanner tool aftedr install I receive message, "Application failed to initialize, please reinstall software. Under details, it gives you description - {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} source-msxml3.dll."

I have witnessed this problem before with XP, but had their IT deal with the problem. I was hoping, someone may have found a solution. I try to stay away from major registry modifications. The file is in the system32 folder.

    Thanks for any help.

I don't deal with Sharpdesk much, it's more hassle than it's worth. That being said, have you tried reinstalling the application? May potentially need to be installed with admin rights depending on their UAC settings.

Is this the windows 7 update or the CD version? Have not come across this using the CD version of Sharpdesk. Have had numerous issues with the update version so stopped using it.

      Good luck.

Agreed. If you reinstall, it will recreate the DLL file. This error can also be caused by a virus infected PC.

OP didn't state if he reinstalled or not, just that the IT had resolved it previously. Good to know I had the right idea... Sharpdesk just winds up always being more problems than straight up scan to email/folder/desktop. Extra software to do exactly what the copier can already do (minus the OCR) is a recipe for complication.

I agree with you, Sharpdesk is more trouble than it is worth. Sales seems to really talk Sharpdesk up. I try pushing scan to email, no jumping from desk to desk and quicker to setup.

The Sharpdesk has been installed a couple of times with full version of Sharpdesk, not the upgrade. Client says he just bought the laptop 2 weeks ago. I guess I will push harder for the non Sharpdesk solution.

            Thanks for the help.

Just wait for the OSA Network Scanner Tool and associated headaches. Just reading about this recently. Haven't done any of these yet but I'm sure it will happen soon!

Sharpdesk is a resource hog. On older XP machines, I do not even attempt it. The OCR is average at best and it can be a nightmare to configure. I try to avoid it if I can. It is funny hows sales seems to push this software. What is even funnier is watching them try to use it.
