    Scanning without SharpDesk?

I have a scan enabled AR-M237. Customer wants to scan to a Windows 7 laptop. I have SharpDesk 3.2. Is it correct that 3.3 and a license for 3.3 is needed to use SharpDesk with Windows 7? I read some posts here that indicated scanning is possible without SharpDesk. If that is possible, could someone give me more information? Thanks for any help or direction you can give.

You are correct, you will need version 3.3. It is available for download at www.sharp-pcservice.com. The product key for version 3.2 will work. There is also an upgrade that was originally distributed prior to the full version of 3.3. I recommend you acquire and use the full version.

Thanks mnicklin for that reply. We are not Sharp authorized to enter that site to download 3.3 from there.

As long as the copier has the PB17 printer expansion board and NSX1 network scanning kit, you can access the web interface for the copier via the IP address assigned to the machine. From the web page, the DNS settings and SMTP settings must be entered (if you're using an exchange server and require SSL, unfortunately you will be out of luck with this old model). Once configured, scan to email should work without a hitch, and without the clunky shell of Sharpdesk.

I try to avoid it if at all possible on any scan related setups, it causes too much hassle for what it does and can be done without it. The only benefit of Sharpdesk I've found is the OCR for editing PDF documents, and even then it's a very limited desire.
