Sharp AR M207, USB Printing & Scanning, on Windows 7

I'm trying to find a copy of the "SharpDesk" ver 3.3 and GDI "Button Manager" version 0909A and the Windows 7, 64bit print driver.

The issue is this. The customer has a Sharp AR M207. They are using a "local" connection LAN through a USB cable to Print & Scan. Everything worked fine on Windows XP, but now they have upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7. Thus the need for the Windows 7 driver, GDI Button Manager Ver. 0909A and SharpDesk ver3.3.

Can anyone provide a link or copy of these ?

    Thanks.

The driver and button manager can be obtained on sharpusa.com or sharp.ca, the upgraded copy of Sharpdesk can be obtained via Sharp's service support website or the Sharp FTP server.

I tried Sharpusa and Sharp.ca ...had no luck. The Sharpusa site says "There are no drivers for this product." when searching under "MFP's & Printers" then AR-207.

I saw some links at "other" software download sites, but don't exactly trust some of those, due to virus seeding, etc.

      Anything else ?

You're looking up drivers for the AR207. That's because the AR (different from the ARM) was the first digital series, quite archaic by today's standards. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that you would find W7/W8 drivers for much of the AR series.

Try searching for the ARM207, I found the drivers on the exact websites I gave out, both sites actually. Matter of fact, this is probably one of the only times I've seen Sharp.ca have more resources than Sharpusa.com.

Thanks Akitu for your patience and further input.

You are correct. In my hasty search at the Sharpusa site I only looked as far as the AR-207 and did not scroll down the list further to the AR-M207.

Thanks again for your help !!

No problem. I think in the op manual included in your original Sharpdesk installation it may have upgrade instructions if you can't get onto Sharp's support site.

Hey, Akitu. I have another question. I read somewhere on the web that SharpDesk may not be "required" to do simple scanning to a folder on the hardrive of the local machine. The customer does not do OCR so they wouldn't miss that part. Is SharpDesk realy needed to do simple local printing and scanning?

The copier is NOT on the wide area network, just locally connected to ONE computer via a USB cable only.

I've stated many times myself, Sharpdesk is not required for anything but the OCR.

Connected by USB, to scan, would require the GDI print driver, the TWAIN scanning driver and the button manager. All of which can be located on the previously linked sources.

It's worth mentioning that on newer machines, GDI compatibility with Sharpdesk is non-existant. Anything from the MX series actually will not work with USB Sharpdesk. A dummy network would be required at the utmost minimum.

If you have the original sharpdesk then you dont need the button manager. You have to find the driver for win7, but the problem is there are 2 drivers for that machine and you have to pick the one uncertified. I ran into this once, win7 will only install certified drivers. you have to do driver fallback and select it manually. i wipe my butt on win7/8.

OP was inquiring how to do scanning without Sharpdesk.
