Sharp mx-m623 losing network connection daily

I have a Sharp mx-m623 that loses the network connection daily, the customer had there network checked by an it professional and was told everything is good with the network, The only way they are able to reconnect is by rebooting the copier or by disconnecting the network cable. can this be caused by the controller(nic) board?

Remove the network cable from the copier and try to ping the ip address from a workstation; it should fail. If you get a response, another device has the same ip addy as the copier.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

The customer is using static IP , They did ping it and it failed. they seem to think the problem is coming from the Sharp unit( controller board/network card) What are your thoughts? Is the controller board crazy expensive?

They always blame the hardware. It's the mindset.

I would connect my laptop to the existing network cable and do a continuous ping to the server. I've seen this a few times where the connection drops off every 20 pings. If you see this, take a screen shot of the Command Prompt screen and present it to IT. "No, this is the connection to my laptop, not the Sharp. What are the chances that both have bad network cards?" =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If it's failing the 'ping' test, your next step would be a crossover cable with a laptop. Resetting the NIC and then unchecking all the other protocols not used, may help.

Sounds like a problem we had a few weeks ago. Try a 67-17 to clear the IP stack on the NIC and see if that helps the problem.

I've posted elsewhere about this, some new routers (specifically D-Link) are being supplied with new technology - EEE - Energy Efficient Ethernet. It shuts down communication on the line when there's no activity other than activity checks. This requires a reboot of the copier, network equipment or both.

There's a switch on the front of the boxes that I know have the feature, I'm not 100% certain how widespread this new fad is at this point, however.
