    GS-1100 IP faxing

I had forgotten this was available.
Customer out in the middle of nowhere wants one because they
    just upgraded to VoIP.

BEFORE we install one, has anyone used it and, is it any better than just
using an analog fax (GD-1370) with an ATA setup?

The GS-1100 requires a SIP connection to the customer PBX and uses a network connection, not a phone line. The connection must also support T.38 protocol for faxing.
If they have VOIP, I have had very few issues with the Toshiba fax kits on VOIP. The majority of my customers are on VOIP without fax issues (knocks on wood).
Toshiba even has a list of recommended fax settings for VOIP network

Yep, I've not had "a lot" of faxing issues with the 1370 & VoIp, as long as you slow it down to a max of 14.4k...
I got lucky years (make that decades) ago. Had over 100 faxes (Most DP120/125's & DP85s) in a hospital and
they switch over to VoIp. Their "head of communications" was an old MaBell guy and we spent one afternoon in
his office going over VoIP. He'd tell me what this would do, what that would do & I told him what the fac could do
and I came up with the settings I pretty much still use today (which for a couple of extras I tossed in most are what
      TABS uses).

We've just never used the IP faxing and was wondering if it works ok (if set up properly).

Personally, I want fax to burn a slow death in because it's been around more or less since the 1890's!
Time for that old SLOW tech to die off!
