Can we put toner ea in 550? Someone has tried and can tell me what happened.

Re: Toner ea xerox 550
From what I hear, you can put toner in any machine if you push hard enough...
You can use DC 250 and 700 Toner in a Xerox 550, but you will need to change the End Cap and Chip.. We use 700 toner in our 550 as it's easier to get hold of.. I'm unsure what EA Toner is.
Xerox toners have Chips and the Machine reads those to tell if that toner is compatible or not.. Shoving any old toner in won't have the right chip and won't work! -

I asked this question because from a 700 I got the development block and to my surprise it works well. If there was a way to reset the chips, even if I don't understand how they work, if the printer writes over the chips or just reads them.Comment

Re: Toner ea xerox 550
For most standard papers, especially after the machine has warmed up and printed a while, you should be fine. So if you print long runs, no problem. The fuser gets extra hot while it is running and that is the extra heat you need.
If you print lots of short jobs, and then printer goes back to sleep again between, maybe don't do it. The fuser is coldest the first few prints after turning on or waking up. The EA-Eco toner it is expecting works fine, the EA might (MIGHT, not WILL) flake off.
550 and 700 use the same toner. Different cartridges (handle and chip are different), but same toner in them. Both are EA-Eco. You can't repurpose the chips from one to the other. You have to buy replacements.
The developer material and developer assemblies for the 500 and 700 are interchangeable.Comment

Re: Toner ea xerox 550
You can of course transfer them from one printer to another, if the two printers both use the same toner cartridge part number. A 550->560 or 550->C70, for example.
Obviously you can't use the chip on the wrong printer, like a 550->700. Regardless of whether the actual toner powder is the same (it is) their toner's part numbers are different. So of course the chip won't work.Comment

They work the same as pretty much all printer "life" chips work. These particular ones are RFID.
