Ex-i 80 Fiery Server for Versant 80 (icon won't show up)

    Hello,

I recently purchased a Versant 80 press, it came with a Freeflow print server but that server wouldn't turn on. I could press the button on the back and the fans would spin but stop as soon as I let go of the button. So I purchased an Ex-i 80 fiery controller, setup seems pretty straightforward but I wasn't able to find any specific documentation. I don't have it installed on the machine, it's just sitting on top connected with a crossover ethernet cable. I don't believe any other cables are required?

    The fiery model is e200-08.

When I boot up the fiery it eventually displays 00 on the screen which I think is correct, and the machine gets IP 100.100.100.101 which I believe is correct as well. However, the only options that display on the printer LCD are copy and network scanning functions (no fiery icon). I can't seem to connect to the fiery server from my computer. I used Command Workcenter to do a port scan but it didn't find anything on the range and I can't tell what the Fiery server IP is as this one doesn't have a GUI.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be missing?

    Thanks!

I have looked through all of those, and on the EFI site as well, but didn't find anything relevant to the issue unfortunately. Maybe I'll try resetting the CMOS on the fiery by taking out the battery if I can access it, and see if that does anything.

I suppose another question I have is, considering this is an Ex-i fiery, I think that means it is supposed to be installed inside the machine. Would me using/testing it externally make any difference? As far as I know the only connection between the fiery and the press is the crossover ethernet cable, unless there's something else that is supposed to be attached internally.

You definitely have to read the documentation in the link:

Ah! I see v1.0 had all of the documentation on the EFI site, I had checked v1.2. Thanks!

Looks like I'm missing an interface cable... that would do it.

Yes, you do need two interface cables. They have the same connectors as Displayport cables, but I have tried a few 'regular' Displayport cable, and they don't work.
