[Misc] Xerox Phaser 7500 refill and some questions

    hello,
I just bought a used Phaser 7500 about one year old, has so far only worked about 2500 pages and it comes with empty yellow toner. A printer will arrive in 4-5 days..

I found that cartridges are too expensive at my local supplier, and I'm forced to use refill toner...

    cartridge condition:

    106R01440 Cyan (standard capacity 9600 pages) - 40% full
    106R01441 Magenta (standrad capacity 9600 pages) - 20% full
106R01442 Yellow (standrad capacity 9600 pages) - Empty
    106R01442 Black (High Capacity 19,800 pages) - 50% full

I was wondering if it is possible to 9.6K (106R01442) Yellow cartridge put chip with 17.8K (106R01445) and refill catridge housing with 350gr of compatible powder? the cartridge housing of standard capacity and high capacity looks same to me on pictures that i found on internet?

I found that cartridge design is similar with Lexmark C950, did Phaser 7500 used Lexmark engine design like Phaser 7400 use OKI?

Don't use refill toner for these machines, unless is it the Lexmark C950 toner. Since Xerox makes these machines for Lexmark (not the other way around) the Lexmark toner is safe to use, but don't use any of the supposed "compatible" generic toners.

The Lexmark toner will have a Lexmark chip on it, and there will likely be plastic "teeth" on the cartridge preventing installing the Lexmark into the Xerox directly. But nothing is stopping you from transposing the Lexmark toner into the Xerox cartridge and popping a new chip onto the Xerox cartridge. (Generic chips are okay, just not the generic toners.)

However, if you are going to be transposing toner ANYway, you might as well use any of the other compatible Xerox machines. For example, the toner for the WorkCentre 73xx series is also compatible, as is the WorkCentre 74xx series (which is the copier-version of your Phaser 7500) and likely cheap on eBay. There are many other Xerox models which use the same toner as the 7500 as well, you can do you research there.

I found that WorkCentre 74xx (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) cartridge design is same as those in Phaser 7500, so can I use them with 7500 hi-cap chips without transposing powder into Phaser 7500 cartridge?

Re: Xerox Phaser 7500 refill and some questions

After few days of researching and consulting with some people, i find out that Xerox Phaser 7500 use Xerox EA-HG toner... That means Phaser 7500 toner isn't compatible with WorkCentre 7525/7530/7545/7535/7556 copiers. WorkCentre 75xx series uses Xerox EA-Eco (new generation of Ultra-Low-Melt toner).

WorkCentre 75xx series are based on Xerox Phaser 7800, and use same EA-Eco toner.

I will order full CMYK set for WorkCentre 7425, 7428, 7435, found it on german ebay for 140eur, (CMYK for Phaser 7500 at my local supplier are about 1200eur, totally crazy)... I just hope to replace chips and cut some pins of CMY cartridges to make them fit...

For black cartridge i will transpose toner, because WorkCentre cartridge is bigger... i figure out how to open cartridge for refilling, very easy look at picture below...

Re: Xerox Phaser 7500 refill and some questions

Just to add one useful tip... I successfully upgraded RAM to 2GB (pulled Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 667Mhz from my old laptop with broken display). There is no need for expensive Xerox Genuine RAM update...

              Hi Proximus

Can you tell me how did your experiment go with the toner? Has the quality of the print become worse?
Im in the same position as you and at the moment dont have money to buy new cartridges. In my life I had two 7500 phasers the first I refilled several times with cheap copy toner like the way you have done from the picture, but the result was not god - the colors where totally out of control and the machine lost quite a bit in producing nice color prints.

But I have not tried to refill with the original 74xx toner. It would be good to know an alternative way to refill without loosing quality in the print.

              Thanks

                  Hi Proximus

Thanks for getting back at this so quick. Please tell me what did you had to do with the workcentre cartridges? Did you had to cut them or change the chip?
It would be really good to know.

There isnt much about this on the net, maybe I should do at youtube film on it if I succeed.

                  Thanks

                  In advance

Re: Xerox Phaser 7500 refill and some questions

Does anyone know if Fuser for Xerox Phaser 7500 is compatible with the Xerox WorkCentre 74xx Fuser?
                      Or
If Fuser Xerox Phaser 7500 is compatible with fuser lexmark x952.
I am in service Lexmark X952 Fuser this equipment but the price is very very high, while fuserele photocopied have lower prices.
