Riso RP 3700 Drum will not unlock

On startup, display reads "insert print cylinder", which is already in position.
Cannot reinsert it as it will not pull out.
Green button remains unlit, even when pressed which makes no difference.
Unlock lever on rear of drum will not budge even when forced with screwdriver as leverage.
Ran test mode code 556 and slight whir and click was heard followed by END screen msg.
Rear of drum alignment holes look ok. Drum is difficult to turn by hand.

Really need expert advice on this please.

Old dinosaur. But here is an idea. (thankfully I still have a manual around)
Sounds like the impression roller might be in the up position against the drum. Go to test mode 654 and reset pressure to home. If that doesn't lower the roller, try 658, print pressure spring release position.

Good luck and let me know if this worked. It's been years since I've seen a RP.

Sorry but thought I had replied but cant find it. I tried both 654 & 658 but no success. On starting up from scratch message was "install print cylinder". Also no green light on release button

If you got a manual, look up where the position B sensor is. remove sensor and see if you can rotate the drum to see the tab on the drum that would trip the sensor. Put sensor back into place and power on while holding the yellow reset button until completely powered up. Hopefully this might kick the machine back into life.

Also if you got a manual look into the press roller assy. and see if it is in the engaged position against the drum and see about getting it released. Actually try that first.

        Good luck.
