Is anyone out there having as much trouble with the fusers on these machines as I am? Some of the machines that use this fuser are the DCP-8110, HL-5440, MFC-8950, etc. The fuser part number is Brother LU9809001. The problem starts with blurry prints or prints with a smudge, specially on the bottom of horizontal lines. After that you start getting fuser jams. On some of these models it is cheaper to buy a new machine than to pay for parts and labor. I have an MFC-8950 at a customers office that is still under warranty and Brother has sent a tech to replace the fuser twice in the span of 10 months. (They would not send the fuser to me to replace because I am not an authorized Brother repair shop).
Do you guys think that upgrading the firmware level might help the problem? As some of you might know HP had/has an issue with firmware on the P4015 family of laser printers.
By the way, if somebody knows a good place to get this fusers at a good price please let me know. I have several machine that the customers gave me that need fusers. If I can't find a decent price the machines are going to the trash!
