Posting this in the hope that it will help somebody in the future. Followed the Brother Mfc-8950 factory instructions to reset drum counter Which are:
Press the stop/ exit key to interrupt the error
Press menu on Lcd display
Use arrows to scroll to Machine info and select it
Press reset menu
Press drum
In this case no reset menu option was available on the Lcd. Used alternate method to successfully reset drum:
Open front door
Hit the asterisk key
drum is displayed....select it and counter reset is performed.
