    HP Designjet 3600 XL

    Hey all
I'm working on a Designjet 3600XL and the "ramps" are not extending completely all the way. I believe I need the Ramps Motor but I can't find the part number for it.
I have the manual and it shows how to remove the ramps motor but the parts section shows every other part except the ramps motor. Does anyone have that part number they could share?
    Thanks

    Re: HP Designjet 3600 XL

The thing that I've seen happen on a few HP wide format machines, is that the plastic idler wheels on the finisher can become dislodged, blocking the action of the ramps.

The ramps unit has an extremely complex timing system that it is much better to never disassemble, if you can avoid it.

First, find what's blocking the ramps, and remove it. Usually it's an idler wheel ... but it could literally be any foreign object preventing the action.
Second, remove the right side cover of the finisher, and remove the ramps motor drive unit. Don't disassemble any further (or you'll probably regret it).
Third, manually turn the ramps drive through it's full travel several times to make sure it is entirely unencumbered, can complete the full travel. Manually, rotate the ramps to the fully retracted position.
Four, re-install the ramps motor drive unit.
    Fifth, power on.

Once the ramps unit is not in the correct starting position, it will not be able to complete initialization. That's where you're probably at right now. I have not had to replace that drive unit or any part of that finisher, but I have had to retrieve idler wheels from the mechanism on a couple of occasions.

If you still want a part number I'll see what I can find. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Follow up:

      This is the database entry:

      DJ T1600PS, T2600PS Cyclops Neptune
      "System Error: 0075-0005-0059".
Upper finisher idler roller comes loose and drops into the ramps assembly, blocking the operation of the ramps.
Re-install the upper finisher idler roller. Remove rear right cover to access the ramps motor assy. Temporarily remove the ramps motor assembly to manually home the ramps. Reboot the machine.

This is the part number of the drive motor unit, but I doubt that you'll need it:

Thanks Cat. I should have mentioned this before. I'm not getting any errors and it is only happening about 50% of the time. So half the time the ramps will fully extend, and half the time they will only push the wheels up and not move any further. I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but that's what's happening.

I think that I'd still remove the drive motor assy, and manually turn it through it's travel, looking for obstructions. Motor failures are not that common on HP devices ... certainly possible. More common is ink getting spattered on the timing wheel, so that the machine cannot determine if the motor is rotating at the correct speed. It comes down to the same thing though, since I have not had much success cleaning an inked-up timing wheel ... the whole motor assembly must be ordered.

There's a diagnostic Mode 07503 that you can test the ramps motor unit. That might be helpful. =^..^=

It looks like a long way in there so if you do have the part number it would be greatly appreciated.
If I'm going to go that deep I think I will just replace it while I'm in there.

I saw that part in the parts guide but they call it a totally different thing in the dis-assembly guide
                Thanks very much
