    hp designjet T830 mfp -at first print at morning need clean printhead because are dry

    hi everyone, I have a customer to whom we sold this plotter a couple of years ago, who says that in the morning, at the first print, he has to clean the heads otherwise he prints white or in stripes (dry heads)the customer uses all original HP, heads, ink etc.
    Head unit recently replaced because it was broken and leaking ink.
    it would seem that the heads, when in home position, are not sealed well, and air passes through which causes them to dry out.
    I thought about having my boss do an estimate on the only service station, but I thought I'd ask you for a more expert opinion.

      Ask about usage, or better yet examine the print log. If they power up the machine once a month and get these symptoms, it's exactly what I would have expected. To keep the heads clear you must print at least (1) Arch D size color image every week.

      When your enduser says that it wastes ink, ask in return, if the printhead cleanings waste less ink (no ... more).

      But yes, a clogged up service station can cause the same symptoms. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          The service station on these machines is a joke. I would replace if it hasn't been before and has had a year of use or more. It's $168 from HP. F9A30-67052

          And like Blackcat mentioned; if it's weeks or months between prints, I would consider it normal behavior. If it's happening in a day, then something is very wrong with the service station.

              They use everyday, in partcular every morning, the envirroment its clear and about 20-22 degree

                              I dealt with an architectural firm with the exact same problem. He was constantly cleaning the printhead until he just got frustrated and gave the printer to me for free, just to get rid of it. When I took it apart the service station was overloaded with ink. Replaced the service station (and printhead) and it worked like new again.

                              I would never recommend this generation of printer to anyone. They're too unreliable and if left unused for too long will degrade until this happens. I'll stick with the previous generation of printers (T1200 for example) that have a built in timer to wake up the printer and do a printhead maintenance procedure every few hours, as long as you keep them plugged in and turned on. Why HP stopped doing that on the newer printers is a mystery to me.

                                  thank for this information, but in this case the machine is used almost every day, and for about two years it has had few problems, for now I have replaced the heads which were leaking ink, and the cutter which had ground the gear, the service station after two year it can be acceptable

                                      Hi everyone, I managed to replace the service station, tomorrow morning we'll check if the problem has been solved (as I think)


                                      only that I have a piece left over (see attachment) I couldn't understand where it should be inserted, I couldn't find it, neither on the machine, nor on the old service station, does anyone know where it goes?...perhaps it is used to put the screws during disassembly?...lol

                                          It's the left side spittoon. CQ890-67044 If you didn't replace it it's usually not a big deal. Only if the existing one is nearly full of ink which I've never encountered.
