    Lexmark MX310 will not pull paper from the one tray

    Let me qualify myself by admitting I know nothing about Lexmark devices. The most I have ever done is pull out jammed paper and maybe given the outside on one of these a cleaning.

    We have a large multi-device customer that one of the managers has a Lexmark MX310 on his desk that no longer pulls paper from the one tray. From the MP tray, no problem.

    I took a look at the machine and managed to scroll through the settings and the machines default tray is the one tray. I even rebooted it and unplugged it before turning it back on. And yet this machine will not pull paper from that one tray.

    I have no idea.

      *Does it recognize a paper size? What size? Is it the accurate size?

      *Does it recognize that there is paper in the tray?

      *What media type? Are you selecting the appropriate media type in the driver?

      *Does the engine start up, like it's trying to feed? If yes, can you view the pickup rollers from the opposite side of the machine, to see if they're turning?

      *Does the machine display a jam code or error code?

      *Can you view the web interface? Does it display a jam or error?

      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Is this the tray you are referring to?

          If so, with the printer turned on, remove the tray, hold the traction mechanism down and send a printout.
          By doing this you will see if the mechanism is rotating.
          If it does not turn, it could be the clutch that is damaged and therefore does not allow the mechanism to turn.
          Also check the condition of the rollers, if they are worn it could be the cause of the problem.




          Above photo of the traction mechanism, the rollers are the green parts.

              Thank you Xandy_73. I did notice that there were no feed tire marks on the page when I prompted the machine to make a print out.

                  Possibly your problem is in acm clutch part nunber 40X8265

                      Very helpful also one can watch through the back of paper tray with torch light if rollers are spinning.
                      If they're not you can get no paper error.
